The Westend app has introduced the smart parking module developed by Hungarian startup Rollet, enabling fully automated and touchless entry and exit by simply registering a car’s license plate. Parking fees are automatically charged to the customer’s bank card.
Thanks to this Hungarian innovation, Westend visitors can now enjoy completely touchless and environmentally friendly parking in the shopping center’s garages. In addition, the app now features a navigation function built on the mall’s map. The operator, Gránit Pólus, aims to implement cutting-edge technologies in the shopping center to meet visitors’ growing needs for efficiency, sustainability, and safety.
Rollet’s touchless parking solution has already been successfully implemented across many locations in Hungary. With automated entry, payment, and exit, the parking process has become faster and more convenient—drivers no longer need to deal with barriers, cash, or paper tickets. The system also eliminates paper usage. The process is simple: at the gate, entry is granted automatically based on the pre-registered license plate, and the required fee is deducted from the pre-supplied bank card. The parking module is available through Westend’s existing Danish-developed app, while Swarco Traffic Hungaria Kft. is responsible for integrating and operating the system with the physical parking infrastructure.
The visitor experience is further enhanced by a new navigation feature in the Westend app (launched in 2019), allowing shoppers to find their way to stores, services, or restaurants among the roughly 400 units spread over four levels—without touching shared kiosks or needing in-person assistance.
“It is important for us to respond to changing consumer needs and visitor habits not only with physical but also with digital solutions. In the long term, our goal is to help people spend their time in Westend as usefully and efficiently as possible, with access to a wide range of shops, services, entertainment, and community programs.
That is why Gránit Pólus Group, the operator of Westend, places great emphasis on technology and PropTech developments linked to property management that can support this goal digitally. The app is one of these tangible tools for visitors, continuously developed to improve their experience,” emphasized Miklós Gyertyánfy, Property Management Director at Gránit Pólus Group.
The Westend app was launched two years ago with a loyalty point system and a coupon module, where shop operators can directly upload their offers. With this tool, the shopping center aims to connect visitors and retailers directly, ensuring efficient, convenient, and personalized time spent at Westend—while supporting sustainability and virtual community building.
