In 2018, the PropTech Hungary Conference marked a historic milestone: for the first time, the Hungarian real estate sector and the digital technology world came together to discuss the future of the market. In the plenary sessions, government and industry leaders, along with international experts, provided a broad perspective on how digitalization would impact national strategies, corporate operations, and urban development. From the smart solutions of the Liget Budapest project to lessons from the fintech revolution and Dutch proptech insights, the message was clear: change had already begun.

In the Concert Hall, the focus was on smart building and facility management innovations: from cloud-based building management and parking garage digitalization to smart homes and data-driven solutions revolutionizing operations and energy efficiency. The afternoon sessions shifted towards user experience and data-driven decision-making, featuring topics such as indoor navigation, heat mapping and emotion recognition, and intelligent office infrastructures — all showcasing how data is becoming a true business asset.

Meanwhile, the Library Hall program revolved around financing, BIM, and digital construction. Discussions highlighted new directions in real estate financing, the digitalization of state-owned property data, the forthcoming BIM boom, and the role of artificial intelligence from design to building use. The afternoon sessions focused on the future of property management, fintech-driven automation, and real-time digital collaboration, before closing with real estate sales and customer experience themes — including VR-based solutions and innovative marketing tools.

This diverse program not only showcased the first steps of the real estate sector’s digital transformation but also laid the foundations for the professional community and dialogue that has since grown into Hungary’s largest proptech event series.
