Vodafone continues to hold a leading global position among IoT (Internet of Things) service providers. In 2022, the company received recognition for the eighth time from U.S.-based research firm Gartner in its Magic Quadrant survey evaluating IoT service providers, according to a statement shared with MTI.

Among the 18 companies assessed, Vodafone once again achieved the highest ranking in both “completeness of vision” and “ability to execute.” In the past year, Vodafone further developed its IoT division, increasing connections by more than 20%—from 112 million in the first half of the 2021 financial year to 142 million in the first half of 2022.

Areas of innovation include redefining service quality, pioneering the use of SIM-as-a-Platform, promoting video analytics and visual IoT, laying 5G foundations for IoT, and developing new commercial models for IoT customers.

The company has pledged to reduce global carbon emissions by 350 million tons between 2020 and 2030—equivalent to Italy’s total annual CO₂ emissions in 2019. Much of this reduction will be achieved through Vodafone’s IoT services, improving efficiency in logistics and fleet management, enabling smart metering, and optimizing manufacturing processes. Vodafone has now established competence centers in automotive, e-health/remote monitoring, agritech, and manufacturing.

Vodafone operates mobile and fixed networks in 21 countries and partners with mobile networks in another 52. As of December 31, the company served over 300 million mobile customers, more than 28 million fixed broadband customers, and over 22 million TV customers.
